Thirteen industry partners are making final preparations for a unique maritime challenge ahead of Navy Leaders’ Navy Tech and Seabed Defence 2026 conferences next week.

The Seabed Security Experimentation Centre (SeaSEC) is running Monday’s day-long harbour protection challenge, where uncrewed underwater vessels (UUVs) will try to evade detection by in-water sensors.

Nine firms selected by SeaSEC are providing either sensors or UUVs for the challenge. They are: Alcatel Submarine Networks Norway AS (ASN); Blueeye Robotics; Elwave; KNOWIT; Lobster Robotics; Maritime Robotics; Norbit; Optics 11 and Teledyne.

Four further companies — Axient Systems, Fugro, Technolution and Unified International — will be integrating data from the systems throughout the event.

The activities will be observed by up to 100 VIP guests from government organisations selected from the delegate list of those attending the two side-by-side conferences, which run from Tuesday to Thursday at the Gothia Towers Hotel and Exhibition Centre.

SeaSEC director Carine van Bentum commented: “We’re really looking forward to seeing some of these technologies in action… What better way to see how products work in the real world?”

Navy Leaders Founder and CEO Nathan Martin added: “It’s a great opportunity for firms to showcase their technology, and for potential customers to see for themselves what the systems they might be buying or using can do.”

SeaSEC is part of the Northern Naval Capability Cooperation, a joint alliance of six Ministries of Defence (Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden). It seeks to accelerate the capabilities and adoption of maritime uncrewed and autonomous solutions, with an immediate focus on protecting critical subsea infrastructure (CUI)
