Uncrewed systems specialists HavocAI has announced it is partnering with the venture capital arm of Lockheed Martin as it develops its medium-sized uncrewed surface vessel (MUSV).
As per a recent press statement, the Rhode Island-based maritime autonomy firm expects to launch its new MUSV platform by the end of this year.
It said it has already produced more than 50 of its 14-foot USVs and the U.S. Department of Defense has bought more than two dozen vessels for operational deployment. Meanwhile, a larger 42′ drone platform is currently undergoing at-sea trials.
HavocAI said its newly announced partnership with Lockheed Martin Ventures (LMV) would allow it “to accelerate the development and scaling” of the MUSV platform.
Company founder and CEO Paul Lwin commented: “The future of maritime warfare is autonomous, and the mUSV is at the forefront of this revolution.
“By collaborating with Lockheed Martin, we can integrate advanced weapons systems and deliver complete solutions that meet the evolving needs of our warfighters. This collaboration is a significant step forward for HavocAI.”
Chis Moran, LMV Vice President and General Manager, added: “Maintaining superiority in maritime defense is fundamental to ensuring deterrence in contested waters. Autonomous capabilities make investment now more important than ever, to help the United States and its allies remain on the cutting-edge of defence technology at sea.”
He went on: “The mUSV is a game-changer for maritime defense, offering enhanced range, payload capacity, and mission versatility. By combining HavocAI’s innovative autonomy stack with our ability to integrate the best of American technology and deliver at scale, we can give warfighters a decisive edge in future conflicts.”
