The U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) has agreed to buy an additional 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs) from BAE Systems at a cost of $184 million.

The deal to buy the additional platforms forms part of the previously awarded full-rate production contract agreed with the company. It brings the cumulative total of ACV-30s ordered to in excess of 100 vehicles.

The ACV-30 is one of four variants of BAE Systems’ base ACV platform and comes armed with a 30mm Cannon turret manufactured by Kongsberg.

Vice president of amphibious programmes at BAE Systems Rebecca McGrane commented: “The ACV has shown time and time again how adaptable it is, capable of handling everything from open ocean to tough inland missions.

“With its ability to integrate advanced systems like the 30mm cannon, we’re ensuring Marines are ready to meet any challenge, anywhere.”

BAE Systems also has existing deals in place to supply the ACV-Personnel (ACV-P) and ACV-Command (ACV-C) platform variants, with the total deal value put at about $2.7 billion. The firm has also built and delivered three ACV-Recovery (ACV-R) variant test vehicles to the USMC.
