Greek defence firm Delian Alliance Industries (DAI) is planning live-fire tests of its Interceptigon-N stealth uncrewed surface vessel (USV) kamikaze drone with the Hellenic Armed Forces next year.
In conversation with Navy Leaders at DSEI 2025 the firm revealed Greek forces — which have already used the firm’s surveillance towers for various tasks, including wildfire detection and border monitoring — plan a series of live-fire tests with the platform at some point during 2026.
The tests are set to be carried out in somewhere in Greece, although an exact location has reportedly yet to be determined.
Interceptigon N is designed to be an attritable, concealed, and autonomous one-way effector which sits on the seabed and is purpose-built for coastal defence operations, engaging surface targets.
Once surfaced after launch, the USV reaches speeds of up to about 43 knots, carries an explosive payload of up to 70kg, with a range of about 18 miles. Each USV has a unit cost in the region of €10,000.
Each unit can lie on the seabed for up to five years, provided its battery is replaced annually.
When the platform was launched earlier this year company CEO Dimitrios Kottas commented: “We built the Interceptigon series to reflect the realities of asymmetric warfare, where cost-effective, autonomous systems can deliver strategic effects disproportionate to their size and price. We are not in the business of building traditional weapons.”
He added: “We’re building autonomous denial systems for sovereign nations defending their territorial integrity or exclusive economic zones (EEZ) that don’t have the luxury of strategic depth or time. Interceptigon is about readiness, resilience, and sovereignty.”
