Babcock will continue maintaining a range of Royal Navy vessels after its Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contract was extended for a further two years.
As per a company press statement the 24-month extension applies to “ship engineering delivery and management for Type 23 frigates, amphibious warfare ships, Sandown minehunters and landing craft vessels.”
Most of these works will continue to be carried out at HMNB Devonport in Plymouth, Devon and at the company’s Scottish shipyard in Rosyth near Edinburgh.
Managing Director of Marine Programmes Phil Craig commented: “This extension is a testament to the dedication and global expertise of the Babcock surface ship support teams across the entire Marine sector and is symbolic of our strong partnership with the MOD.
“Together with the Ministry of Defence, and other Surface Ship Support Alliance partners, we will build upon this FMSP extension to engage in the development of subsequent surface ship support contracts which deliver the Royal Navy’s needs in the future.”
