British shipbuilder Babcock International Group has strengthened its supply chain by signing a new agreement with engineering experts AtkinsRéalis at CNE 2026.

At last week’s Navy Leaders conference, the largest annual naval show in Europe, the two firms signed an agreement which sees engineering services and nuclear experts AtkinsRéalis appointed to Babcock’s Global Engineering Services Framework to support the delivery of complex defence projects.

The new agreement, which spans the next five years, will see AtkinsRéalis work with Babcock across its nuclear, marine, land and aviation divisions, including projects in Plymouth, Devon and Rosyth and HMNB Clyde in Scotland.

It will also take in Babcock’s development and sustainment of equipment, mission systems, and platforms.

Babcock Director of Growth and Strategic Procurement Nuclear David Tytherleigh said: “This new supply

chain approach allows us to more effectively deliver specialist engineering capability, collaborating with trusted suppliers who are ready to support capacity when required.

“We’re delighted to be working even more closely with our suppliers to combine our expertise in planning future projects ahead of implementation.”

And AtkinsRéalis Market Director – Defence Infrastructure, Andy Albutt, said: “As the U.K. and its allies increase investment in defence, Babcock is strengthening its access to specialist engineering expertise to ensure it can meet demand and deliver capability to the frontline.

“This appointment builds on AtkinsRéalis’ longstanding relationship with Babcock in the U.K., extending our multidisciplinary role across complex defence infrastructure and new platforms, while supporting Babcock as it scales its global defence programmes.”
