Sue Seagrave

Project Renown Data Sheriff, UK - MOD DE&S
Cdr Sue Seagrave joined the Royal Navy quarter of a century ago as a Marine Engineer Officer.  The first 2 decades of her career involved a lot of time in overalls with a torch, as is traditional for MEs.  As well sea appointments in T23 frigates, she has served as a nuclear submarine docking officer, two tours on the staff of Flag officer sea training and one on the CNATT team in Umm Qasr Iraq.  Three years on exchange with the RCN on the staff of COMMARPAC were a particular high point and not just because of the skiing.  Following ACSC she completed an MSc in Computer Science and AI whilst working as DE&S maintenance management group leader and making the most of a mandate to ‘drive the RN’s Project Kraken’s Palantir pilot like you stole it’.  The success of her renegade posse of data outlaws led to her being kidnapped by then Director Ships to help Project Renown transform support and improve ship availability.  After intensive negotiation she agreed a biscuit related incentive scheme for user adoption and the right to choose a job title. Four years and thousands of users later the biscuit bill is still unpaid but the job title is going strong.
