LtCDR Miroslav F. Jug is an ex-EOD/VSW diving officer. His military career began in 1992 in an infantry Special Forces unit and then continued in a Navy diving unit. There he worked most of his career as an underwater diving operator and concluded his duties (at a tactical level) as a C.O of the Slovenian Navy Diving unit and its VSW team. After that he worked on an operational level in a SAF s Joint force command in a J-3 branch. Now he works as the chief of N-4 branch in a Navy command. During his career he served several deployments: Salvage operation in Kosovo; NATO mission ISAF in Afghanistan; EU mission SOFIA in Mediterranean off Libya; most recently in 2023, UN mission UNIFIL in south Lebanon. LtCDR Jug is the author of several tactical manuals for SAF diving unit covering mixed gas diving, underwater demolitions/countermining and VSW diving operations. He is an active member of NATO Standardisation organisation s NMWWG, specifically, VSW panel group that tackles the MCM from a diving perspective and force protection among others. LtCDR Jug and his team are responsible for modernisation of Slovenian Navy underwater capabilities.
