Lisa Hammock RN
Lisa is currently RN Head Climate Change & Sustainability: creating and managing a climate change and sustainability strategy to ensure climate risk resilience and environmental management practises are undertaken. Lisa has over 25 years’ experience within the marine industry. Her experience ranges from working on board ships as an engineer, teaching at foundation degree level, through to working in the design approval office and as a consultant.
Lisa has developed deep, specialist knowledge of climate resilience and sustainability, particularly in the maritime domain. She is also a qualified marine engineer.
Lisa has deep experience in interpreting and designing ship machinery systems for compliance with Class, MARPOL, IGF Code for low flashpoint fuels, Ballast Water Management Convention and SOLAS, as well as local legislation around the globe. She has played an active role in policy working groups at IMO.
Past projects have involved the design of on board environmental systems, propulsion systems and HVAC for cruise and defence; the development of newbuild specifications and senior engineer for the machinery systems design of a vessel specified to operate in extreme environments on low flashpoint fuel.
More recently, Lisa has led a team of 7 environmental protection and sustainability SMEs: working across climate change, sustainability and environmental management topics. She has undertaken environmental legislative compliance assessments for defence platforms; various environmentalimpact assessments of platforms and equipment; completed gap analysis of RN environmental management systems against ISO14001:2015 and presented on sustainability and its wider meaning within the maritime and defence sectors.
