WOCSS JJ Leybourne joined the RNZN as an Ordinary Seaman Radar Plotter on 28 May 1980.  During his career WO Leybourne has held a variety of senior CSS roles at sea. His sea service has included postings to HMNZ Ships TARANAKI, CANTERBURY (FFH), SOUTHLAND, WAIKATO, WELLINGTON (FFH), and CWO of TE KAHA and TE MANA. WOCSS Leybourne has operational experience in the Middle East, Indian Ocean, Solomon Islands, and Bougainville. WOCSS Leybourne first completed the NBCDI course in 1994 and was an active NBCDI whilst posted to sea going units.  WO Leybourne completed the CBRNDCI course in October 2019 and joined the Maritime Training Group as the FDCI in November 2019.
