Greg DeVogel

Chief Technology Officer, Port Hueneme Surface Warfare Centre, US Navy

Greg DeVogel is the chief technology officer of Naval Surface Warfare, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD), managing the command’s annual research budget, patent process, academic outreach programs.


He began his career with the U.S. Navy in 1985 as an engineering duty officer aboard USS Constellation (CV 64) as the ship’s repair division and fuels officer. He was the acting damage control assistant during a fire in the ship’s main space.


His active-duty assignments included being a test officer, program integrator, sensor systems test planner; assistant program manager, and as officer in charge of the Navy detachment at White Sand Missile Range.


He became a government civilian and initially worked as strategic planner and new business group at White Sands Missile Range. He rejoined the Navy in 2018 as chief technology officer for NSWC PHD.


His degrees include a Bachelor and Master of Science in physics. His awards include the Acquisition Procurement Excellence Award, Integrated Warfare Systems Excellence Award, Joint and Meritorious Commendation Medals, Achievement and Commendation Medals, Quality Award, Civilian Achievement Medals, Commander’s Awards and the Etter Top Scientists team award.
