Craig Sawyer
In 2019, Dr. Craig P. Sawyer began service with OPNAV N9I as a special advisor to the Director of Integrated Warfare. In this position, he serves as the N9I Portfolio Lead for all Naval Unmanned, Robotic and AI Systems as well as the Integration and Interoperability Science Advisor. His primary efforts worked to align and guide technology and resources into focus through the strategic 30- year picture balancing investments, studies, war games, exercises, and experimentation related to Unmanned Systems across the Naval enterprise. In 2021 this body of work created the DoN Unmanned Task Force which now works to lead the Navy’s plans to deliver the hybrid force of the future through Unmanned and AI programs, while also augmenting multi-domain force design today with rapidly emerging opportunities and innovation. This work helps define and align the investment, employment, and strategic development of the execution of a 17-billion-dollar Naval AI, unmanned and autonomous systems portfolio.
