Rear Admiral (LH) Cihat ERYİĞİT attended the Naval High School in 1987 and then the Naval Academy in 1991, graduating in 1995 as an ensign.

After completing his Officer Weapon Course, he served on various surface ships as a branch officer and division head between 1995 and 2000.

Between 2000 and 2002, he completed a master's degree in Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, USA. After obtaining his degree, he was assigned to the Turkish Naval Research Center Command, where he worked in software development, integration, and system engineering roles until 2020. During this period, he contributed to various national defense projects and technological advancements.

On 01 September 2020, he was appointed as the Commander of the Turkish Naval Research Center Command, a position he held until 15 September 2021. Subsequently, he served as the Commander of the Navy Technical Command from 16 September 2021 to 08 August 2024.

In 2024, he was promoted to Rear Admiral (LH) on 30 August 2024 and was appointed as the Naval Forces Headquarters Technical Director on 09 September 2024.
