Business Development Manager, BAE Systems
Tim has been with BAE Systems since 2020 and manages the BD portfolio for mine neutralisation, heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes, novel underwater effectors and delivery mechanisms and, more recently, autonomous underwater vehicles.
Prior to working with BAE Tim has spent five years in other industry businesses (Ultra and L3H) working with anti-submarine warfare sonar, torpedo defence, mine warfare and autonomous surface vehicles for defence applications.
Before his time in industry Tim spent sixteen years serving in the Royal Navy. Qualifying as a Warfare Office Tim spent two years training on HMS INVINCIBLE and HMS WALNEY before undertaking his first compliment appointment as Gunnery Officer where he deployed to the Persian Gulf and to the Baltic Sea as part of a NATO task group.
After his first appointment Tim was selected to undergo the Mine Clearance Diving Officers Course specialising in mine warfare, mine clearance diving and bomb disposal. Joining HMS RAMSEY in 2006 as Operations Officer, Tim deployed to the Baltic Sea as part of a UK Task Group assigned to the Cold Response NATO exercise. Following this role Tim was appointed as Executive Officer to HMS WALNEY and took the ship through a period of sea training before deploying to the Mediterranean Sea as part of a UK Task Group.
After this period in mine warfare Tim returned to General Service and qualified as Principal Warfare Officer for anti-submarine, anti-surface and anti-air warfare. He joined HMS DARING, undergoing sea training before deploying to the Persian Gulf and integrating with three different US Navy Carrier Battle Groups providing point and area air defence. Tim finished his time on HMS DARING as Operations Officer before moving to a range of shore-based appointments, firstly as Chief of Staff to a Mine Warfare Squadron and then as Principal Warfare Officer on the UK 2* Maritime Battlestaff.
