Rear Admiral (LH) Johan Norlén is a surface warfare officer and since September 2023 serving as the Military Advisor to the MFA. From fall 2022 and until summer 2023 he studied at the French Centre des Hautes Etudes Militaires (CHEM) in Paris, roughly equivalent to National Defence University (US) or Royal College of Defence Studies (UK). Between 2020 and 2022 he served at Defence Staff in the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm as head of the budget and planning section. Between 2017 and 2020, he served at the Naval Staff as officer in charge of exercise planning for the Swedish Navy. Rear Admiral Norlén started his career as a conscript in 1990. He was commissioned officer in 1994. He thereafter consequently served in whereas posting at the third warfare flotilla in Karlskrona. 2004-2005 he served as commanding officer of the fast attack craft HSwMS Ystad and in 2014-2016 he commanded the Swedish corvette HSwMS Härnösand. In 2016-2017 he commanded 31th Corvette Squadron in Karlskrona. Between 2010-2012 he served as ADC to Minster for Defence and besides his regular duties at the Swedish Armed Forces, RDML Norlén serve as ADC to His Majesty the King, Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden
