Rear Admiral Belisario Zagazeta

He was born on April 1, 1972 in Lima. He entered the Navy in February 1990, and is a graduate from the Naval Academy of Peru as Frigate Lieutenant in December 1994, with the Title Bachelor of Naval Maritime Sciences.

He has followed professional specialization courses in Surface Warfare and Surface Weapons, followed the Specialization course in Weapons Systems at the “Almirante WANDENKOLK” Training Center in the Brazilian Navy. He is a graduate of the Basic General Staff Course and the Command and General Staff Course at the Naval War College, as well as the Higher Hemispheric Defense and Security Course at the Inter-American Defense College in Washington DC, United States of America. He holds a Master’s degree in Inter-American Security and Defense from the Interamerican Defense College, a Master’s degree in Maritime Strategy from the Naval War College and a Master’s degree in Strategic Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú – CENTRUM Católica.

Embarked in Naval Units, he has served on the BAP Light Missile Cruiser “ALMIRANTE GRAU”, on the BAP Missile Frigate “CARVAJAL” where he held positions in the different divisions of the Armaments Department, having held the position of Head of the Logistics Department. and as Head of the Armament Department; He held the position of Second Commander of the Missile Frigate B.A.P. “VILLAVISENCIO” and as Commander of the BAP Missile Frigate “QUIÑONES”.

During the time he served in the Departments, he has worked in the missile technical area, in the area of HR and education, he has been Commander of the Paita Naval Base and he has worked for 5 years in the General Staff of the Navy, having held the positions of Head of the Institutional Affairs Division and Head of the Information Operations Division of the Institutional Policy Department, Head of the Organization Department and Head of the Institutional Resources Department.

As of January 1, 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, and was appointed as Head of the Special Development Office for the construction of the new Callao Naval Base project, having been appointed on August 5, 2023 as Director of Naval Projects, a position he holds to date
