Rear Admiral Auraş Liviu Coman

He was born on October 8, 1968, in Mihail Kogălniceanu commune, Constanța county.

He graduated from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Military Naval High School in 1987, and in 1992 from the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy, Faculty of the Military Navy, Navigation Section. His first assigned position was that of commander of the torpedo boat on the wing VTAp 71, then for 11 years he performed the functions of commander of the navigation combat service on the corvette 263 “Vice-Admiral Eugen Roşca”, commander of the artillery and missile combat service on the corvette 262 “Vice-Admiral Vasile Urseanu”, navigation specialist, 2nd operations and combat training officer and Chief of Operations within the 50th Corvette Division.

Starting with 2004, he served as Officer 3 with multinational operations within the Operations Planning Office within the Fleet Command, and since 2006 as Head of the Naval Forces Action Planning Coordination Department and Head of the Standardization and Lessons Learned Office at the Naval Forces General Staff, Bucharest.

During 2008-2010, he graduated from the Master’s degree program in Joint Naval Forces Leadership in the field of Military Sciences and Intelligence. At the end of his Master’s degree studies, he obtained the first prize for the best dissertation. After graduating from the master’s degree, during the period 2010-2013, he held the positions of Chief of Operations at the 146th Mine Disposal Ship Division, commander of the corvette 264 “Rear Admiral Eustațiu Sebastian” and the corvette “Rear Admiral Horia Macellariu”, and since 2013 he was appointed Chief of Staff within the 50th Corvette Division.

He was appointed Commander of the 50th Corvette Division on 01.07.2016, and since September 2017 he has been Deputy Commander of the Naval Operational Component. In November 2020, he was empowered to ensure the fulfillment of the duties of Deputy Commander of the Fleet. On March 01, 2021, by order of the Minister of National Defense, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the Fleet.
