Peter Litchfield brings over 27 years of specialist experience in fire, smoke and watertight integrity across the Naval, Marine, Offshore, and high-risk Industrial Sectors. As Business Development & Technical Director at CSD, he has been involved with the design and build of all UK Naval Projects during this time and led numerous inspections and citadel tests in collaboration with Lloyd’s Register Surveyors, the UK Ministry of Defence, and shipbuilders.
A pioneer in the use of ultrasonic technology for non-invasive testing of cable transit watertight integrity, Peter helped establish this method as a recognised standard within the UK MOD and allied navies. His expertise continues to drive innovation in vessel survivability and safety.
Peter is currently supporting the design and build of the Type 26 Global Combat Ship, Type 31, Astute and Dreadnought Submarines and provides through-life support for upgrading cable transits and pipe penetrations across the Hunt Class, Type 23, Type 45, and Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers. He is also actively involved in improving fire safety across the Oil & Gas sector and other high-risk industrial projects, ensuring robust protection in the world’s most hazardous environments.
He previously presented a paper at the RINA Damaged Ship Conference (2018) where he highlighted the critical role of multi-cable transits and pipe penetrations in damage control and containment of fire, smoke, and flooding.
