Pete Lowson

Pete has extensive operational experience within HM Coastguard, leading the response to a variety of incidents and the involvement in multiple high-profile major incidents, including within the energy sector. Currently he is the HM Coastguard Head of Operational Procedures though has previously been the HMCG lead for offshore energy for ten years, is highly experienced in maritime operations and is a subject matter specialist on offshore energy search and rescue. He has valuable experience working as a training and emergency response consultant within the energy industries and has detailed understanding of multi-agency collaboration._x000d_

Pete is a leading voice within the energy industry, both domestically and overseas, where he has supported the development of key policy and guidance documents to ensure the UK’s SAR capability is maintained and industry emergency response arrangements are robust. He was exercise director for Exercise Sancho in 2022 and Exercise Blyth in 2025 and has led the evaluation team for two consecutive National Contingency Plan exercises in the UK._x000d_
