Orlando Max Avis

In 2006, Orlando was selected as crew for an inshore RNLI lifeboat in the Bristol Channel. After a period working in hospitals and control of infectious diseases, he returned to maritime SAR in 2016 as the Helm and coordinator of a rescue boat in Lesvos. Orlando went on to lead teams in the rescue of more than 7000 people offshore between Italy and Libya. More recently, Orlando managed the SAR services for the rescue vessels Aquarius and Ocean Viking, and was responsible for crew, equipment, and training for 6 years. Orlando now works exclusively on delivering the training he developed to external stakeholders
