Martin Cauchi Inglott is currently the Director of the EU funded, maritime security capacity_x000d_
building project CRIMARIO II. Prior to retiring from the Maltese Navy/Coast Guard, Martin,_x000d_
spearheaded military outreach to International Organisations such as the United Nations, NATO,_x000d_
and many partner countries in the Asia and Africa, as Colonel – Head of the External Relations_x000d_
Division – within the European Union’s Military Staff. Before joining the EU military, Martin served_x000d_
as Maltese Military Representative to the EU and NATO (2008-2012) Military Committees._x000d_
Martin’s military career began in the Maltese Navy/Coast Guard in 1988, serving as_x000d_
Commandant of the Force between 2001-2008, during which period, he planned and led_x000d_
maritime security and safety operations, including EU Joint Border Control operations in the_x000d_
central Mediterranean. During this period, Martin also headed the modernisation of the Maltese_x000d_
maritime force incorporating asset acquisition, base upgrades and revision of doctrine. Earlier on_x000d_
in his career, he served as Search and Rescue Mission Cooridnator at the Operations Centre of_x000d_
the Armed Forces, after graduating as such from the USCG SAR Training School. After_x000d_
retirement in 2015, Martin became a maritime security and fisheries consultant for UN FAO and_x000d_
UNODC.
