Mark Thibodeau serves as the Director of Sonar Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada. With over two decades of
experience at the forefront of Underwater Warfare innovation, he has consistently advanced the capabilities of this critical
defence domain. Mark joined General Dynamics in 2006 as a
Senior Engineer, where he and his team engineered the foundational code for what would evolve into a state-of-the-art mission
system currently deployed by the Royal Canadian Navy.
Mark has taken on evolving roles at General Dynamics, contributing to a wide range of defence programs across airborne mission systems, land-based tactical networks, and both terrestrial and satellite communications systems. This breadth of experience has provided him with a unique perspective on Networked Underwater Warfare. In his current role as Director, Sonar Systems, Mark leads a team focused on advancing Distributed Anti-Submarine Warfare capabilities for
Canadian and allied naval forces. Before joining General Dynamics, Mark held senior engineering and system architect positions in the telecommunications industry, where he was awarded eight patents for his innovative technology developments.
Mark holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia. He also completed an Executive MBA from the University Ottawa’s Telfer School of Business in 2019.
