Lt. Colonel Hernández enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1994 and graduated from the Spanish Naval Academy.
During his career, he served in a variety of positions to include, Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Commander, S3/S4 at 1st Marine Battalion, Staff Officer at Force Protection Unit HQ, Amphibious Warfare Instructor at the ESP Marine Corps School, Staff Officer at San Marco Regiment SIAF-SILF (Brindisi, Italy), Staff officer at Joint Operations Commands, Liaison Officer at USAFRICOM/SOCAFRICA HQ (Stuttgart, Germany), and he has just completed Command of a Marines Unit.
His operational experiences include several deployments in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Lt. Col. Hernández is a graduate of the Command and Staff Course, his military education includes specialization in Planning Process and Expeditionary Amphibious Warfare, and he holds a Master degree in International Relations and Defence Policy.
