Lars Hedstrom

Lars Hedström is Strategic Advisor to the Swedish Defence University. He held to just recently the position as Director for Strategic Implications and Innovations Center, Swedish Defence University (SEDU). That includes external relations, the cooperation with international partners and the Cooperation Agreement with National Defense University in Washington DC. Previous his current position he was the Senior Associate Dean for External relations and the Executive Director for the Institute for National Defence and Security Policy Studies, Swedish Defence University. As the Deputy Head established the Crisis Management Coordination Secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office. The Secretariat was running the 24/7 Situation Centre and were responsible for the Daily Brief to PM`s State Secretary. Previous positions: Deputy Director General at the Swedish Emergency Management Agency; Deputy Director General at the Swedish Rescue Services Agency; and Chief Fire Officer in the Stockholm Southern Area. He has been seconded to NATO Headquarters, as an International Civil Protection Expert at the Civil Emergency Planning Directorate. The last years he has working with developing the Swedish Totaldefence and the civ-mil dual use innovation in a triple helix context. With assignments from Swedish Armed Forces and others he has done studies, analysis, gaming and strategic leadership education with all actors in the Totaldefence.
