James McGowan

James McGowan is Senior Marketing Manager for Teledyne FLIR Marine, part of Teledyne Technologies’ portfolio of maritime brands that also includes Raymarine. He supports the development and application of thermal imaging, navigation and situational awareness technologies for maritime operators worldwide.

A graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, he previously worked in the maritime industry and served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. Drawing on both operational and industry experience, he works with commercial, government and recreational maritime organizations to improve safety and effectiveness through advanced sensing and navigation technologies.

He is a frequent speaker on maritime technology topics, with a particular focus on the use of thermal imaging for search and rescue, navigation safety and maritime situational awareness.
