Ivar de Josselin de Jong graduated as a Master of Science in Geology and Environmental Management from Utrecht and Leiden Universities in The Netherlands. His experience in the offshore industry spans over 25 years and he has successfully undertaken various operational and management roles. In 2007, Ivar joined Fugro as operations manager for Fugro’s survey activities in West Africa. Following a period as Business Line Manager responsible for geophysical mapping and pipeline inspections in the North Sea, he shifted his focus to developing new activities for Fugro and initiating specific innovation projects. He spearheaded Fugro’s current role in UXO (unexploded ordnance) identification and clearance. He also played an initiating role in developing Fugro’s 3D UHR seismic solution for subsurface mapping. Since 2017, he stood at the cradle of several groundbreaking development programs in offshore and subsea robotics, including the development of Fugro’s uncrewed fleet for hydrographic and offshore infrastructure inspection work using USVs and integrated eROVs. He has been the driving force behind various strategic partnerships (with a.o. two UK based companies) delivering pioneering remote and autonomous solutions to the marine industry. In his current role as Director Business Development, his focus is on positioning Fugro in the Defence and Maritime Security & Surveillance sector.
