Head of Vulnerability reduction and Shock Engineering, UK MOD – Submarine Delivery Agency
Helen is the Senior Defence Fellow for Underwater Weapons Effects and Shock Engineering. Having studied Materials Science at Birmingham University and spent several years at Rolls Royce aerospace as a foundry engineer and process research specialist for single crystal turbine blade manufacture, she joined the Ministry of Defence in 2001._x000d_

She gained an MSc in Marine Engineering and Technology via the MTEC programme and has spent the past 18 years as MoD’s underwater weapons effects and shock engineering specialist, the last 9 of which have been as Head of the Vulnerability Reduction and Shock Engineering team, with a stint as Head of Materials in the Naval Authority Group somewhere in the middle of it.
