David Scott joined Bristow back in 2016 and currently holds the position of UKSAR UAS Operations_x000d_
Manager. David is responsible for developing and establishing the Maritime and Coastguard_x000d_
Agency’s very first unmanned aircraft capability designated ‘Coastguard500Unmanned’. David is_x000d_
responsible for UAS development and overall service delivery to His Majesties Coastguard._x000d_
Prior to joining Bristow Helicopters Ltd, David served 12 years in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft_x000d_
engineer spending the majority of his career on Tornado GR4. Across his military career David_x000d_
supported operations both at home and abroad with the latter providing David’s first encounter_x000d_
unmanned aircraft._x000d_
On leaving the RAF, David transitioned into the Oil and Gas industry as a Remotely Operated Vehicle_x000d_
(ROV) Pilot for Subsea 7. David went on to conduct subsea operations in Scotland, Norway, The_x000d_
United States and finally Brazil before deciding on a return to aviation._x000d_
Recognising the future potential of UAS, David welcomed a return to the aviation industry as one of_x000d_
the founding members of Bristow Groups first steps into the unmanned aircraft market through the_x000d_
establishment of Bristow UAS._x000d_
David went on to lead Bristow’s diversification into the unmanned aircraft market, quickly_x000d_
establishing Bristow as a market leader in complex UAS operations. Initialled focused on Oil and Gas_x000d_
operations, David went on to author and secure first of type BVLOS authorisations sharply focused_x000d_
on evaluating the S-100 Camcopter UAS in the search and rescue role. This work ultimately_x000d_
culminated in the award of the UK’s first unmanned aircraft service dedicated to search and rescue_x000d_
and safety of life at sea.
