Personal Profile

Vianney Peu-Duvallon, Commander in the French Navy, has distinguished career marked by deep expertise in nuclear-powered submarines.

After obtaining his engineering degree in mechanics, he enlisted in 2005 as Navigation Officer on a patrol vessel in Brest, participating in Operation Enduring freedom in the Indian Ocean.

He then specialized in nuclear energy and propulsion, serving on several nuclear-powered submarines – SSBN and SSN – and becoming a technical teacher officier.

Notable experiences include deterrence patrols, intelligence missions near coastal areas in warm waters, anti-submarine security missions in the Atlantic, and deployments in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

He played a key role in the sea trials of the SSN Suffren, the first Barracuda-class submarines, when he was technical teacher officier of the SSN squadron.

In 2023, he joined the 31st promotion of the Ecole de Guerre, deepening his strategic and operational knowledge.

Currently, he serves as the Barracuda Program Manager at the French Navy Headquarters (EMM), contributing to the development and management of this advanced class of submarines.
