Commander Ricardo Pereira da Silva

Commander Ricardo Silva was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1975. He graduated from the Portuguese Naval Academy in 2000 as a Marine Officer. He holds an MBA (2012) and a Master’s degree in Management (2013) from the University of Lisbon. He also holds various specializations and certifications in the field of management, including an immersion program in Silicon Valley (University of San Francisco, 2011) and in the subjects of Risk, Crisis, and Project Management.

As a junior officer in the Portuguese Marines, CDR Ricardo Silva commanded the Reconnaissance Platoon of the Portuguese Light Marine Battalion and a Marine Company. In 2004, he joined the Portuguese Navy Special Operations Unit (Destacamento de Ações Especiais / Special Actions Detachment) on which he served for most of his career until 2019, including seven years as the Unit’s commanding officer
