Chief Fire Officer & Risk Management Team leader, Netherlands Navy Marine Fire Brigade
I am a safety and fire service professional with over 35 years of experience within the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Marine Fire Service. My career has been focused on operational safety, aviation firefighting, training, and risk management. I joined the Royal Netherlands Navy in 1986, where I served for ten years as a logistics specialist, diver and helicopter rescue swimmer. This operational background provided a strong foundation in teamwork, discipline and emergency response.
From 1996 to 2007 I worked at the Den Helder Training Centre as an aviation and fire service instructor, training personnel in aviation safety, firefighting and emergency procedures.
Between 2007 and 2012 I served as a senior staff member in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), focusing on workplace safety, risk management and environmental compliance.
Since 2012 I have been part of the Marine Fire Service of the Royal Netherlands Navy. I served as Team Leader Professional Competence and later as Station Commander at De Kooij Airfield.
Since 2024 I hold the position of Team Leader Risk Management, responsible for fire safety, risk control and regulatory compliance.
Beyond my professional career, I have shared my life with my partner Bianca for over 31 years. Together we are proud parents of three children and grandparents of three grandchildren.
