Captain Sirio Faè is currently the head of the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre and has served in the Italian Coast Guard since 1992. He specialized in the SAR sector, where he has spent 16 years so far, during which he attended specific training courses and held operational positions within the Italian maritime SAR organization, as SAR mission coordinator at MRCC Rome, and as head of the local maritime SAR organization when he was Harbour Master of the ports of Vieste, Termoli, and Salerno. He gained experience in the complex Mediterranean Sea scenario, characterized by intense migratory flows, and participated in the coordination of mass rescue operations from passenger ships. He also planned various naval and air operations and collaborated in defining the operational requirements of the new SAR naval assets to be acquired by the Italian Coast Guard.
