Born in 1968, joined the Navy in 1987. Has followed a surface officer career in patrol boats, corvettes and frigates. Commanded a corvette, a frigate, and the Navy Mine Warfare Force.

Specialist in mine warfare (Eguermin, Ostende, 1997) and naval communications, and has completed the EU CSDP High Level Course (2016). As staff officer (Collège Interarmées de Défense, Paris 2005), has served in the Navy General Staff (three tours), the Joint Command for Operations, the Spanish MILREP to EU, and has served as Military Assistant for the Crown Prince of Spain.

Has participated in NATO Operations Sharp Guard, Active Endeavour / Sea Guardian, and in the Planning of EU CSDP Operations ATALANTA and SOPHIA. He Speaks English and French
