Captain (N) Marko Petkovic serves as DCOS OPS in the Swedish Navy as of December 2023 and was promoted Navy Captain in September the same year. He returned to the Navy in 2023 after seven years at military-political and strategic level. His most recent post was Assistant Military Representative and Military adviser at the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels 2020-2023. Before Brussels, he was posted as Strategic planner in the Policy and Plans Dept at the SwAF HQ with a portfolio which included international commitments and national response plans. Prior to this Petkovic served a three-year rotation in the Operation HQ of EUNAVFOR Operation Sophia in Rome as Deputy Acting Chief of Staff, CJ5, between 2016-2019. Previous posts includes Navy Intelligence Branch at the Navy Staff and two command tours, the most recent was when he took command of the 42.MCM Squadron between 2009-2010 and the first as Commanding Officer of the Landsort-class minehunter MHC HSwMS Ven between 2005-2007. During his junior years he served in various positions on minehunters and passive anti- submarine ships where he also gained competencies in brown water anti-submarine warfare. He was commissioned in 1996. He has been awarded the SwAF medals for national and international service and the Common Security and Defence Policy Service Medal along with a personal Commendation from the Chairman of EU Military Committee. Captain Petkovic is married to Helena and they have two daughters. His hobbies includes an interest in politics, cooking and marathon.
