U212 Programme Manager, OCCAR
Italian Navy Captain and Naval Engineer, submariner by heritage and profession, currently serving at OCCAR as U212 NFS Programme Manager. He carries a family lineage in the underwater domain: his grandfather, who bore the same name and surname, was also a submariner. Over 37 years in the Navy (28 in submarines), he served as Chief Engineer on Sauro and U212A Class submarines and worked across key operational and institutional environments: at sea, at the Submarine School, in technical and logistic operational support Commands for Submarines and Surface ships, within the Italian Navy General Staff and the National Armaments Directorate. His expertise spans mainly procurement, design, operations, maritime safety, training, certification and through-life support, with experience in international cooperation. A firm believer in the deep technical and human parallels between submarines and spaceships, where closed-environment operations demand autonomy, precision and resilient crews, making the submariner and the astronaut two expressions of the same mission culture across the underwater and space domains.
Married and father of 3 children.
