Chairman, Atlantic Cable Repair and Maintenance Agreement
Alasdair joined the STC (now ASN) in 1985 having left Newcastle University with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Whilst at STC he worked on UK-Belgium 5, the first international optical submarine cable and subsequently numerous other submarine systems, mainly in the marine department. On leaving ASN he worked in C&W(Marine) then IT International Telecom, Flute Ltd, Hibernia Networks. Following a short tenure as Subsea Programme Director for Digicel Group in Jamiaca, Alasdair moved to St. Lucia as CTO for Deep Blue Cable, and then as the CTO Marine for Digicel Group, after Deep Blue Cable was subsumed into Digicel. On leaving Digicel in 2024 Alasdair has set up a consultancy, Telchines Ltd, and provides consulting on various topics centered around subsea maine maintenance. Alasdair has authored several papers and is a Member of the IET. Alasdair has represented various companies on the EC of the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC), European Subsea Cables Association (ESCA) and the North American Submarine Cable Association (NASCA). Alasdair is the current Chairman of the Atlantic Cable Maintenance Agreement; the preeminent submarine cable maintenance solution in the Atlantic ocean.
