Alan Anderson

Alan Anderson is an accomplished leader in subsea robotics and autonomous systems, serving as Subsea Robotics Product Manager for Oceaneering. Since joining Oceaneering in 2021, Alan has been instrumental in driving the commercialization of the hybrid Freedom AUV/ROV system—a breakthrough platform that merges the flexibility of remotely operated vehicles with the autonomy and endurance of advanced underwater drones. His vision and technical expertise have helped position Oceaneering at the forefront of maritime surveillance and critical infrastructure protection.

Alan’s career spans more than two decades in the subsea industry, marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation and operational excellence. Prior to Oceaneering, Alan spent 17 years at Fugro, where he was Product Owner for Next Generation ROV Systems. In this role, he led multidisciplinary teams to develop and deploy cutting-edge robotic solutions for complex offshore environments. His hands-on experience  has given him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding advance robotic systems tasked with performing in underwater operations.

Alan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. His technical background, combined with a strategic approach to product development, enables him to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and real-world applications
