The overall stability and security of Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean is of vital importance to the United States and the Republic of Cyprus. The complexity and evolving nature of security challenges in this region mandates vigilance, engagement, and close cooperation on defense and security issues between like-minded partners to ensure peace, stability, democratic principles, and rule of law are upheld.

To this end, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Republic of Cyprus Ministry of Defence (MOD) reaffirm their commitment to collaborate to address current and projected international security concerns through the signing of a Roadmap for Bilateral Defense Cooperation Efforts. The roadmap establishes a framework to enhance response to humanitarian crises and to better understand and address key security concerns, including the national security effects of climate change, countering malign influence, and building interoperability between military forces.
