Ukraine Modifies Anti-Ship Missile System For Land Attack Role

Due to prohibitions against using Western-donated munitions deep inside Russia, Ukraine has invested a significant amount of resources into producing a land attack variant of the Neptune Missile. 

The Neptune has a maximum range of about 300 kilometres and the Ukrainian government reportedly is trying to get the range up to 1,000 kilometres [Newsweek], [Kyiv Independent]. Just before the offensive in Kursk, the Ukrainians allegedly used the Neptune to destroy a Russian ammo dump in the Kursk region [Kyiv Independent].

 Long-range fires are essential for Ukraine to degrade the fighting capability of the Russians by straining supply lines and destroying aircraft that launch glide bombs.
