Two Royal Thai Navy Patrol Boats will be fitted with Sentinel 30 remotely controlled weapon stations supplied by Spanish firm EM&E Group.

The deal for the Sentinel 30 systems includes Mk44 Stretch Bushmaster Chain Guns and OTEOS electro-optical fire control stations for each vessel.

As per a recent company press statement, the newly announced deal marks the first time that EM&E Group has supplied naval solutions to the Royal Thai Navy, although the firm has a pre-existing contract with it for weapon stations on seven of its amphibious vehicles.

The Sentinel 30 system can fire 200 rounds of 30x173mm ammunition at a time and can also be used with programmable air-burst munitions.

The firm’s statement noted the Sentinel system would provide “a rapid response capability and increased accuracy through stabilisation, remote control and advanced observation with target tracking.”
