Sea Shield 24: Romania-led NATO Naval Exercise begins in Black Sea
The Romanian Navy is leading a complex multinational exercise titled Sea Shield 24. At least 12 NATO nations and allies are taking part in the training drills in the Black Sea from April 8 until April 21. More than 2,200 military personnel are taking part in the multinational exercises.

Participating nations include Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, and the US.
According to the Romanian Navy, some 27 maritime and river vessels, 17 aircraft, and 91 vehicles will used during the exercises carried out in the Black Sea, the coastal area, on the Danube river and in the Danube Delta. The drills will include combatting illegal activities at sea, maritime and river control, search and rescue operations, assisting a vessel in distress, and ensuring critical infrastructure security.
