NATO Force Ships Practice Baltic Sea Transfer Manoeuvre
Two warships forming part of a standing NATO taskforce have been carrying out training operations in the Baltic Sea in support of its new Baltic Sentry initiative.
On Monday the new flagship of Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1), the Royal Netherlands Navy vessel HNLMS Luymes, conducted a joint training operation with another current member of the SNMCMG1 fleet, the German minehunter FGS Datteln.
As per a social media post by Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM), the central command of all NATO maritime forces headquartered in Northwood, United Kingdom, the two vessels carried out a boat transfer exercise.
The manoeuvres are part of ongoing operational training activities being carried out by SNMCMG1, which is supporting Baltic Sentry, NATO’s recently announced bid to boost protection of Critical Undersea Infrastructure (CUI) in the Baltic Sea.
