Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has netted a deal to construct a new offshore patrol vessel for the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency.

As per a recent press statement from the firm, part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, the new ship will be built at MHI's Shimonoseki Shipyard in Yamaguchi.

The deal is part of a wider grant agreement struck in March 2024 between the Indonesian Government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The new OPV is scheduled to be delivered in March 2028. The press statement noted the ship “will improve the ability of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency to carry out maritime rescues and law enforcement quickly and appropriately.”
