After a month in dock at Portsmouth Naval Base, HMS Dauntless has set sail again to test its sea readiness. The Dauntless belongs to the Type 45 Daring destroyer class and is one of Britain’s newest ships. Despite its young age, the Type 45 has been plagued by maintenance issues for years.

The fault originally lies in the destroyer’s engine, which has previously led some vessels to stall in warmer climates [BBC]. Previously, the Dauntless was in Portsmouth for years to fix unspecified technical issues.
