Seeing is believing! Navy Leaders is inviting end-users and procurers to come and watch uncrewed systems and sensors in action ahead of Navy Tech & Seabed Defence 26.

We have teamed up with the Seabed Security Experimentation Centre (SeaSEC) to run a Harbour Protection Challenge Day on February 2 in part of Gothenburg Harbour, the largest commercial port in Scandinavia.

This is a chance for both military personnel who get their hands dirty (and/or feet wet) and those responsible for buying kit to see systems in action.

Some of the industry exhibitors at the two three-day conferences, running side by side at the Gothia Towers Hotel and Exhibition Centre from February 3-5, have been selected by SeaSEC to participate.

The scenario will be a harbour protection challenge involving passive and active sensor solutions; uncrewed vehicles; and potentially data integrators as well, with participants divided into ‘red’ and ‘blue’ teams. The precise venue, and more details about other firms taking part will be revealed nearer the time.

It will involve firms with optical, acoustic, distributed acoustic sensors to act as the protectors, and to those offering remote operating vehicles (ROVs) and uncrewed underwater, surface and aerial vehicles (UxVs) to simulate the threats.

The Challenge Day is being run in conjunction with SeaSEC, part of the Northern Naval Capability Cooperation, a joint alliance of six Ministries of Defence (Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden). SeaSEC seeks to accelerate the capabilities and adoption of maritime uncrewed and autonomous solutions, with an immediate focus on protecting critical subsea infrastructure (CUI).

SeaSEC director Carine van Bentum commented: “We’re really looking forward to seeing some of these technologies in action and hope that lots of the conference delegates will want to come and watch. What better way to see how products work in the real world?”

Navy Leaders Founder and CEO Nathan Martin added: “We’re really excited to offer this additional event ahead of our Navy Tech and Seabed Defence conferences this year.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity for firms to showcase their technology, and for potential customers to see for themselves what the systems they might be buying or using can do.”
