BAE Systems Doubles Value Of Comms Contract With US Navy
BAE Systems has won a three-year, $85 million extension to its existing contract to deliver data and communications capabilities to U.S. Navy ships.
The firm's Network Tactical Common Data Links (NTCDL) systems are already being installed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers; they will also be fitted to its new Constellation-class frigates.
The multi-platform NTCDL infrastructure allows real-time transmission and reception of voice, data, images, and video footage between a variety of assets including submarines and AUVs, surface vessels and USVs, aircraft and AUVs, and portable land-based comms equipment. The initial $85 million NTCDL contract was awarded to the firm last year.
As per a recent press statement "NTCDL enhances Situational Awareness (SA) and tactical battlefield advantage of the U.S. Navy through real-time and simultaneous networked operations."
Amber Dolan, BAE Systems' Director of Adaptive Communications and Sensing, commented: “We have designed and produced a faster next-generation system to meet the demands of our customers’ evolving connectivity mission requirements.
“BAE Systems is committed to providing the U.S. Navy with a trusted and secure solution to transmit and receive the critical information needed to successfully accomplish its missions across the fleet.”
Work on the contract is carried out across four states at the firm's facilities in Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York.
