Wes Wins Again With Recognition At Royal Navy Leadership Awards
Powerlifting Royal Navy submariner and Navy Leaders champion Wesley McGuinness has been honoured at the inaugural Royal Navy Leadership Awards.
The Plymouth-based submariner, our inaugural Navy Leaders Champion, scooped the Community Impact Leadership Award in recognition of his work with the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, We Remember Submariners, ActivKids UK, and The Chestnut Appeal for Men’s Health among others.
The First Sea Lord’s Annual Leadership Symposium and Awards was staged on Wednesday, May 13 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London.
The awards, run by the Leadership Institute Royal Navy (LIRN), seek to recognise and reward the excellence in leadership across the fleet.

Wesley said: “What an incredible experience… This recognition reflects a journey that started long ago, and I wouldn’t be standing here without the guidance of those who paved the way.
“A special thank you to Paul, whose mentorship over the last 18 years has been instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and service.
“I’ve always believed in the vital importance of giving back to the community, and this award reinforces my commitment to managing with a strong purpose.
“Most importantly, I want to thank my wife. Behind every service member is a partner holding the fort. Thank you for your continuous support and for taking the lead at home so I can pursue this work.
“Thank you to all everyone that continues to show their support, you are all deeply appreciated.“
