Shield AI

Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a defense technology company committed to protecting service members and civilians with intelligent, autonomous systems. Its flagship autonomy software, Hivemind, enables aircraft, drones, and other platforms to operate in disrupted, disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth (DDIL) environments, ensuring adaptive, resilient, and coordinated operations where GPS and communications are denied. By decoupling military power from manpower, Hivemind delivers intelligent, affordable mass, enhancing force projection and survivability.

V-BAT, Shield AI’s single-engine, ducted-fan VTOL UAS, is operationally deployed worldwide, and has proved its resilience in electronic warfare-contested environments where traditional drones fail. With its ability to launch and recover in confined spaces, V-BAT is ideally suited for shipborne and austere environments, supporting missions from ISR and strategic targeting to search-and-rescue and maritime interdiction. V-BAT has completed over 20 deployments with the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and international partners since 2019. It was also chosen through a rigorous competition for the U.S. Coast Guard ISR program of record and selected by Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) as the country’s first-ever ship-based ISR platform, underscoring its leadership in maritime ISR.

Shield AI also delivers ViDAR, the world’s first AI-enabled optical sensor for passive detection with wide-area motion imagery. Proven in ISR and search-and-rescue operations, ViDAR enhances situational awareness in even the most challenging maritime conditions, including up to Sea State 6.

With offices in San Diego, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Abu Dhabi (UAE), Kyiv (Ukraine), and Melbourne (Australia), Shield AI’s technology actively supports U.S. and allied operations worldwide.
