FarSounder develops and manufactures COTS real-time Argos 3D Forward Looking Sonars for navigation and obstacle avoidance. These systems are operational at up to 25 knots and provide an underwater view up to 1000m range in front of vessels.
Argos users can detect hazards before they get there and see obstacles, including ice, whales, rocks, shipping containers, reefs, and shallows, with enough time to alter course. This helps government forces operate their vessels in difficult-to-navigate areas, particularly in shallow waters, in order to fulfill their missions.
Additionally, Argos technology takes the real-time information it gathers and generates a depth map of everywhere it’s been through its built-in Local History Mapping feature. This data is saved for future use and recalled when returning to a place previously recorded.
Integration with machine interfaces is available for autonomous navigation or GUI for human-in-the-loop viewing or operation. Argos Navigation Sonars do all the data processing internally and have an Ethernet-based machine interface. USV developers can access this fully processed information used in the Argos display software via an SDK.
With FarSounder’s Argos 3D Forward-Looking Sonar and its many capabilities, integrations, and applications, navigation has now become more efficient than ever. Standard charting techniques have been given an upgrade, and sonar advancements allow USVs to be capable of their own decision-making. FarSounder’s progressive 3D sonars add a new dimension and have forever changed how marine vessels navigate.
