Energy Bolting manufactures First Level fasteners in accordance with the latest issue of DEF STAN 02-862 Part 3, covering both metric and unified thread series.
We supply the full range of submarine-grade carbon and alloy steel fasteners as defined in the standard:
SM1 – For zinc-plated fasteners used below 60°C
SM2 – For unplated fasteners used below 300°C
SM3 – For unplated fasteners used between 0°C and 520°C
All fasteners are produced from heat-treated bar stock which is ultrasonically tested, magnetically particle examined, and chemically analysed in accordance with the standard. Test samples from each batch undergo:
-Tensile and proof load testing
-Charpy V-notch impact testing
-Hardness testing
-Dimensional and thread inspection
-Surface examination
Each product is supported by a complete documentation pack including raw material certificates, inspection reports, test results, and certificate of conformity.
Additional Material Capabilities
In addition to the SM-series carbon and alloy steel fasteners, Energy Bolting also manufactures to related MOD requirements covering:
*Austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels
*Nickel-based alloys such as Monel® and Inconel®
*Copper alloys including nickel-aluminium bronze (DEF STAN 02-833)
*Titanium and other non-ferrous grades specified in naval applications
Our production is supported by UKAS-accredited laboratories and an approved supply chain that ensures conformance with all relevant MOD and ISO standards.
